Excel MCP Connector Installation Guide

This guide covers a first-time setup for the Nobie Excel MCP connector on Windows.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Claude Desktop or Claude CLI installed

1) Download the connector installer

  1. Click Install on the top right of this page to download the installer.

2) Run the installer

  1. Open nobie-installer.exe.
  2. If Windows asks for permission, click Yes.
  3. Finish the install wizard.

3) Let the installer finish setup automatically

  1. After install completes, Nobie MCP should open automatically.
  2. Nobie should install/connect the Claude integration automatically.
  3. Wait until the app shows Claude connected.

If Claude is not installed yet, install Claude Desktop first, then open Nobie MCP and click Connect to Claude.

Important: In Claude Desktop, use the Code tab for Nobie access.

4) Check Git is installed (required)

  1. In Claude Desktop, confirm you do not see a Git not found warning.
  2. If Git is missing, install GitHub Desktop for Windows and complete its setup guide: Set up Git.

5) Verify inside Claude

  1. Open Claude Desktop.
  2. Start a new chat and ask: "What MCP servers do you have access to?"
  3. Confirm Claude lists Nobie (or the Nobie Excel MCP server).

Troubleshooting

  • Restart both Nobie MCP and Claude Desktop, then reconnect. You may need to kill the Nobie MCP process and/or the Claude Desktop process in the Task Manager.

    Open Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc, then search for nobie-mcp and claude-desktop and right click and select End Task.
